Aria’s Christmas

By Nina Forrester

To my lovely daughter I couldn’t be prouder of the young confident girl you’re turning into. Always be true to yourself. Love, mommy

Aria was a bright little girl who lit up every room she walked into. She had been very good all year long, sharing her chocolate and helping her friends whenever she could. Just before Christmas, Mommy and Daddy bought a brand new house for the family. Scuba, their happy black cocker spaniel, wagged his tail and followed Aria everywhere as she explored.

Aria loved the bedroom she shared with her big sister, Maisie. Their beds had cozy pink sheets with unicorns, and a lovely pink dollhouse stood between them. Even Aria’s favorite mud kitchen was set up in the garden, ready for making muddy pies. Aria and Maisie giggled and played for hours in their pretty new room.

The house was beautiful, but suddenly, Aria noticed something was missing. She looked all around the living room and realized there was no log burner and no chimney! A big worry started to grow in her tummy. Aria crossed her fingers tight, scared that Santa wouldn't be able to visit.

She looked up at Daddy, who adjusted his glasses and stroked his dark beard. "Daddy," she asked, "How will Santa get in?" Mommy brushed Aria’s long blonde hair out of her face and gave her a squeeze. "Don't worry, Aria," Mommy said, "Santa is magical and always finds a way."

On Christmas Eve, Aria came up with a clever plan to help Santa. She and Scuba, of course, went to the front door and hung a shiny magic key on the handle. "Now he can unlock the door!" Aria cheered, feeling much more hopeful. She climbed into her unicorn bed and closed her eyes.

Late that night, with a sprinkle of magic dust and the special key, Santa stepped right into the hallway. The lack of a chimney didn't stop him at all! He quietly left presents under the tree while the whole house slept soundly. The magic key had worked perfectly...

On Christmas morning, Aria jumped out of bed. She ran downstairs followed by Scuba and Maisie. Than she gasped "Santa's been! He found us even without a chimney!" Her present, peaking from under the Christmas tree, was exactly what she wanted a big mat with the Bluey Road printed on it!

Maisie was happy too, hugging her new Puppy Rescue Surprise toy. Aria played with her cars on the winding roads and gave Mommy and Daddy a huge hug. She felt so appreciated and decided right then to always be a good girl who tries her best. Aria smiled, knowing she would never give up on being kind!
