For Lola
Lola is four years old. She has brown hair in a little top bun, soft bangs, rosy cheeks, and a white shirt and shorts with pink hearts. She is kind and very funny.

Today Lola holds her dad's hand and goes to the races. Bright flags flap and cars make a happy vroom. Lola's eyes are big and curious.

She watches the racers and claps for everyone. She makes a silly face and laughs, and other kids giggle. Lola shares her snack with a small boy who is nervous.

The announcer says one little kart needs a driver. Dad kneels down and asks, "Do you want to try, Lola?" Lola thinks of her heart shirt and nods.

She climbs into a tiny red kart that looks like a smiling toy. The helmet is a little big and her top bun peeks out a bit. The crowd cheers as she waves.

Vroom! The race starts and wheels zoom around the track. Lola drives carefully, curving with a giggle and saying "Beep beep!" to her friends. She helps a friend who wobbles a bit by slowing and smiling.

Near the finish line Lola keeps her eyes on the track and crosses it first! Her dad lifts her high on his shoulders and she laughs. Lola holds up a shiny ribbon and everyone claps.

On the walk home the ribbon bounces on her chest over the pink hearts of her shirt. Lola gives the ribbon to the small boy she shared a snack with, and he hugs her. Lola learns that being kind made her day the best win of all.
