harry and the haunted house

By harry king

on halloween harry went to a haunted house with a angre skelaton at the front door and pumpkin hed monster

Harry kicked his football hard but it bounced right over the rusty gates of the old haunted house. Pushing his long black fringe out of his eyes he marched up the creaky driveway to get it back. Standing right next to the heavy wooden front door was a terrifying skeleton with glowing red eyes.

Harry, dressed in his favorite football kit, was not going to let a pile of bones stop him. He pushed past the spooky guard and stepped into the dark, dusty hallway of the creepy mansion. As the heavy door slammed shut behind him he heard a chilling rattle of bones following close behind.

The determined seven-year-old ignored the creepy noises and searched the shadowy living room for his ball. Instead of his football he spotted a giant bowl of glowing, colorful sweets sitting on a dusty table. His energetic tummy rumbled and he eagerly reached out to grab a handful of the delicious-looking treats.

Suddenly a bony hand snatched the bowl right out from under his nose. It was Skelo, the red-eyed skeleton from the front door, clattering his teeth in a wicked laugh. Skelo held the sweets high above his head so Harry could not reach them.

Give those back shouted Harry, lunging forward with a competitive spirit to tackle the skeleton. But Skelo snapped his bony fingers, sending a spark of green magic flying straight at Harry. In a flash of light Harry looked down and gasped in horror as his football kit fell away and his own arms turned into spooky white bones.

Harry clattered as he walked, completely transformed into a skeleton just like his new rival. He felt strange and light but he was still just as determined to win this spooky game. Skelo pointed and laughed with his red eyes flashing, thinking he had won the battle.

Harry scurried away from the laughing skeleton, his bony feet clicking on the floorboards. Hiding behind a torn velvet curtain he noticed a tiny, shimmering purple sweet rolling across the floor. It had dropped out of the bowl during Skelo's wicked trick.

Hoping it was magic, Harry scooped up the purple candy with his skeletal fingers. He popped the sweet into where his mouth used to be and swallowed hard. A warm, fizzing feeling instantly started at his toes and rushed all the way up to his skull.

With a loud pop the skeleton spell was completely broken. Harry felt his skin return and his comfortable football kit appeared right back on his body. He brushed his long black fringe out of his eyes, feeling stronger and more energetic than ever.

Skelo marched around the corner, his red eyes widening in shock to see the boy back to normal. Harry did not hesitate and treated the skeleton just like a football on the pitch. With a powerful, determined kick he booted Skelo right in the middle of his bony ribs.

The skeleton flew through the air and crashed into the wall with a deafening clatter. Skelo burst into a pile of loose bones that scattered harmlessly all across the haunted floor. The glowing red eyes flickered twice before fading out completely into the dusty shadows.

Right under the pile of bones Harry finally spotted his missing football. He grabbed it happily, ran out the heavy front door, and left the haunted house behind forever. The brave boy jogged all the way home, ready for his next big game.
