Mary built a rocket from big cardboard boxes and shiny tape in her backyard. She had long blonde hair tied with purple bows, green eyes, and a little black dress with purple trim. Mary felt shy and nervous, but her heart felt very brave.

She climbed inside the box rocket and hugged a small blanket. The stars blinked above and Mary counted, "Three, two, one!" Her striped purple tights wiggled as the rocket began to wobble.

Up and up the cardboard rocket flew into the night sky. Mary's tummy fluttered, but she smiled because she was doing something kind and brave. The moon looked soft and round ahead.

The rocket landed with a gentle bump on the silver moon dust. A friendly alien with big curious eyes bounced out to say hello. The alien wore a bright smile and reached out a tiny hand.

Mary felt shy, but she took the alien's hand and smiled back. She showed the alien her purple bows and told a quiet joke that made them both laugh. The alien offered Mary a glowing pebble as a gift.

They hopped like astronauts across the moon and played gentle games among the stars. Mary learned the alien liked flowers made of light and kindness. They shared stories without any words, just warm feelings.

When it was time to go home, Mary hugged her new friend and waved goodbye. The alien put the glowing pebble in her hand and promised to look for her from the moon. Mary felt proud and less afraid than before.

Back in her room, Mary placed the moon pebble on her little shelf by the window. She looked out at the moon and whispered, "Good night, friend," with a brave smile. Mary knew she could be shy and still do wonderful things.
