Papa and his 3 angels

By Fathima Reshid

In a cosy home filled with giggles lived three little girls named Zahra, Azrah, and baby Khadijah. At the very centre of their happy world was their hero, Papa Abdurrahmaan. To the girls, he was the biggest and strongest person in the whole house.

Papa was amazing because he could fix absolutely anything. He fixed broken engines, snapped toys, and he could even fix a sad day. Whenever something went clunk or crack, the girls knew exactly who to call.

Every evening, when the sky turned dark outside, Papa became the "Night-Time Boss." He helped brush tiny teeth until they sparkled and picked out warm, colourful pyjamas. He always carried sleepy baby Khadijah in his strong mechanic arms.

Once everyone was ready for bed, the best part of the night began. "Papa, story please!" Zahra would ask with a hopeful smile. "Me too!" Azrah would shout, bouncing on the soft mattress.

Papa’s stories were the very best. Sometimes they were about fast racing cars, and sometimes they were about silly monkeys. Other times, the stories were about brave princesses who looked suspiciously like Zahra and Azrah!

On weekends, Papa tried to sleep in, but the girls had other plans. Tiny footsteps would rush into his room before the sun was even up. "Papa! Wake up! It’s adventure day!" they would cheer, giggling until he opened one sleepy eye.

Errand days were the girls’ favourite days of the week. Whether going to the shops, the garage, or just for a drive, anywhere with Papa felt like a big journey. Holding Papa's hand made everything feel safe and fun.

Papa was a diesel mechanic, which meant he fixed giant, noisy trucks. Zahra thought Papa was the strongest man alive, and Azrah thought he used magic to fix things. But baby Khadijah just thought Papa was the most comfortable pillow ever.

Sometimes, when the girls were feeling grumpy or sad, Papa knew exactly what to do. One big bear hug, one silly funny face, and a sudden tickle attack later, all the sadness would run far away!

At night, when the house finally became quiet, Papa tucked each girl into her warm bed. "Sleep well, my little stars," he would whisper gently. To Papa, Zahra, Azrah, and Khadijah were brighter than the whole sky.

Before he left the room, Papa always made one special duaa. "Ya Allah, protect my girls, and make them kind, brave, and happy always." Even baby Khadijah would wiggle her toes as if she was saying, "Ameen."

Every day and night, Papa Abdurrahmaan loved his three little stars more than engines, tools, or all the adventures in the world. Because out of everything he did, being their Papa was the best job he would ever have.
