The Best Ever Sleepover

By Harry, Alfie and Lola

With love from your smallest grandchildren, today and every day xxx

Grandma and Grandpa were bubbling with excitement because the three cousins were coming for a sleepover so their mummies could have a rest. As soon as they arrived, Harry took charge of the bedroom situation. "I'll take the big double bed," he said sensibly, helping Grandma set up the little put-me-up beds for Alfie and Lola right in the same room so they could all be together.

Alfie dove onto his mattress, rolling around on the floor and making everyone giggle with his sparkly, cheeky grin. They unpacked their special friends: Lola placed Martha Bunny on her pillow, Alfie snuggled his Lion, and Harry set his Monkey down carefully. Harry then organized everyone’s pyjamas into neat piles so Grandma would know exactly whose clothes were whose.

First on the list was creativity time! Grandma tipped out a box of pens and glitter, chatting away about all the fun things they could make. Lola was very bold and focused, arranging her crayons perfectly before drawing a beautiful picture, while Harry worked hard on a detailed sketch of an eagle and Alfie created his own magical monster.

After crafting, they marched down to the mere to feed the hungry ducks. Lola loved throwing the bread high into the air, but Grandpa kept checking his watch, looking a little nervous about the busy road and the water. "Stay close now, everyone, let's keep safe," he said, though his eyes twinkled kindly as he watched them play.

They didn't stay at the park too long because it was getting a bit muddy and cold, so they hurried back inside to build a giant tower with Megablocks. Grandma turned it into a game to see who could build the highest, but Alfie accidentally knocked it over with his bottom, which made everyone laugh so hard they nearly cried... or worse! They calmed down by setting up a long, winding line of dominoes across the rug.

Grandpa disappeared into the kitchen, where he was happiest looking after everyone. He cooked up a delicious feast of sausages, steaming pasta, carrots, and peas. He served the plates with a smile, making sure everyone had an equal amount because he believed everything should always be fair.

For dessert, there was a very special surprise. "I made this!" Lola announced proudly, unveiling a cake she had baked that looked just like an Elsa Castle. It was sugary and delicious, and Lola felt very grown-up cutting slices for her cousins and grandparents.

With full tummies, they all piled onto the sofa to watch *Wallace and Gromit*. Grandpa sat in his big armchair, chuckling at the funny inventions and making jokes that made Harry and Alfie roar with laughter. Even though he pretended to be grumpy about the noise, Grandpa secretly loved having them all there.

When the movie finished, it was time to get clean. Grandma took charge of bath time, turning the water bubbly and singing silly songs while the children splashed. Meanwhile, Grandpa stayed downstairs to tackle the mountain of washing up, scrubbing every pot and pan until the kitchen sparkled.

Clean and cozy in their pyjamas, the cousins climbed into their beds: Harry in the big one, and Alfie and Lola snug on the floor. Grandma and Grandpa came in for a massive group cuddle, tucking Lion, Monkey, and Martha Bunny in tight. Within minutes, the room was filled with the soft breathing of three sleeping cousins under the twinkling fairy lights.

The next morning, they were up bright and early at 7 am! They decided to bake cupcakes, mixing the batter until their arms ached. Alfie got a bit of flour on his nose, which made Lola giggle as she carefully spooned the mixture into the cases, which Harry had arranged very neatly.

While the cakes baked, things got very silly indeed. "Look at my new hat!" laughed Alfie, putting a pair of pants on his head. Soon, they were all dancing around the kitchen with pants on their heads, even Harry, who thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Then the music started for a proper dance party! Lola showed everyone her special KCDC dance moves, stepping perfectly in time with the beat. Grandma grabbed Alfie’s hands and spun him around and around until they were both dizzy and laughing.

Grandpa and Harry weren't as keen on dancing, so they sat together on the sidelines, acting as the audience. They watched the swirling dancers, smiling and giggling at Grandma's silly moves. "They've got enough energy to power a rocket," Grandpa joked to Harry.

Too soon, the doorbell rang, and the mummies arrived to collect the troops. There was time for one last giant squeeze, with everyone piling onto Grandma and Grandpa for a goodbye cuddle. "This was the best ever sleepover!" cheered Lola, grabbing her bag.

As the car drove away, silence finally fell over the house. "Same time next month?" Grandma asked, already pulling out her favourite puzzle for a quiet afternoon. Grandpa sat down with a sigh of relief, turning on the football to recover. "Absolutely," he smiled, "but first, a nap."
