The Park

By Dahlia Gorji

dedicated to Students of Canadian School of Tashkent

The park near Danielle’s house was her favorite place to go after school. It was full of tall green trees, bright flowers, and a big playground where children laughed and played every afternoon. Danielle loved walking along the path and watching the birds.

One sunny afternoon, Danielle walked to the park like she always did. While she was near the playground, she saw a girl sitting on a bench. Danielle walked up and said, “Hi, my name is Danielle.Do you want to be friends?”

The girl looked at her and laughed. “You are not cool enough to be my friend,” she said. Her name was Giselle. Danielle felt hurt and quietly walked away.

Later, Danielle sat on a swing. Another girl came and smiled. “Hi, I’m Moka,” she said kindly. Danielle smiled back and they started talking.

They discovered they liked the same things: drawing, reading, and playing outside. Soon they became good friends. Every day they met in the park at the same time. They helped each other with homework and played together.

One afternoon they heard someone crying. They followed the sound and saw Giselle surrounded by older girls who were laughing at her clothes.

Danielle and Moka walked forward bravely. “Stop,” Danielle said. “You should not make fun of people.”The girls were surprised and walked away.

Giselle looked at Danielle and Moka. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I was mean to you before. Now I understand how bad it feels.”Danielle smiled. “Everyone deserves kindness,” she said. From that day on, Giselle changed and became kinder. Danielle, Moka, and Giselle became good friends. They met in the park every day and played together. They learned an important lesson: it is never right to bully others. Kindness and friendship always make the world a better place.
