Candy Monster

By Elyssia Alasu

On a sunny morning in London, blond-haired Leo ran downstairs for breakfast. His mum placed a plate of yummy vegetables in front of him. "YUCK!" shouted Leo with his big blue eyes wide. "I do not like vegetables, I want candy!"

"Candy is not good for you," said his mum. "If you eat too much candy, the Candy Monster will come out!" But naughty Leo did not listen. He snuck some bright sweet candies into his school bag anyway.

When Leo got home from school, he dumped his bag on the table and ran upstairs. He sat on his bed to eat his secret treats. Suddenly, he heard a loud noise in his cupboard. BOOM! A giant Candy Monster jumped out!

The huge monster hit Leo, and everything went dark. Soon, Leo woke up in a soft hospital bed. His kind mum was sitting next to him holding his hand. "This is what happens when you eat too much candy," she said gently.

That evening, Leo went back home and ran straight upstairs to his bedroom. He opened his cupboard to check if the monster was still inside. Whew! It was completely empty.

BANG! Suddenly, something shook inside his toy box! BOOM! The Candy Monster jumped out, grabbed Leo, and whisked him away to a dark sticky cave.

"We want an apology for eating too much candy!" growled the big monster. "I am sorry!" shouted Leo. "I promise I will only eat my healthy vegetables from now on!"

"Okay, we will take you back home," smiled the Candy Monster. He zoomed Leo right back to his cozy room. From that day on, Leo always ate all of his crunchiest vegetables!
