Helpful Harry

By Aries Asuero Silvano

Harry jumped out of bed with a big smile on his rosy red cheeks. He buttoned his white polo shirt and put on his favorite green vest with the globe logo. Outside, Mr. Brian the tall oak tree blinked his round eyes. "Good morning, Mr. Brian!" Harry shouted to his leafy friend. "It is time for an adventure!"

Mr. Brian’s bushy mustache wiggled as he smiled back at Harry. "Hold on to my branches," said the talking tree with a rumble. With a magical whoosh, they flew up into the blue sky. They soared over the clouds, looking for places that needed their help.

First, they landed on a giant, snowy mountain high in the air. Harry saw empty candy wrappers lying on the clean white snow. "We must keep the mountains clean," Harry said, picking up the trash quickly. He put it in a bag, and the mountain looked beautiful again.

Next, they visited a long, winding river full of swimming fish. Harry spotted plastic bottles floating near the muddy bank. "Oh no, that is not good for the water," Harry said with a frown. He and Mr. Brian carefully scooped the bottles out to keep the river safe.

They traveled to the wide, grassy plains where the wind blew softly. Harry saw a family having a picnic, but they left some paper bags behind on the grass. Harry walked over in his white shoes and asked, "Please pick up your litter to keep the plains pretty." The family smiled and cleaned up their mess.

Mr. Brian carried Harry to the top of some rolling green hills. Some hikers were walking on the delicate flowers instead of the dirt path. "Please stay on the trail," Harry told them kindly. "We have to protect the plants so they can grow big and strong."

People from all over the land gathered around to hear Harry speak. He pointed to the globe logo on his vest and shared a very big message. "The Earth is our home, and we must take good care of it," he declared. Everyone clapped and promised to help the environment.

The sun began to set, so Mr. Brian flew Harry back to his own backyard. Harry hugged the tree's trunk, feeling tired but very happy. "Good work today, Helpful Harry," Mr. Brian whispered softly. Harry went inside, ready to dream about saving the world again tomorrow.
