How to make a Scribbin

By S. Cribbin

For storytellers everywhere

It was time for bed, but Lola was tired of all her old books. "I want a brand new story!" she said with a huff. Daddy smiled his big, funny smile. "Then let's make a Scribbin together," he said.

Lola hopped onto Daddy's knee in front of the bright computer screen. Daddy took a photo of Lola with his phone. Like magic, the website turned her picture into a beautiful illustration. "Look, it is a cartoon me!" Lola giggled.

"Let's put Martha in it, too," said Daddy. He snapped a photo of Lola's soft plush bunny. Pop! Martha Bunny appeared on the screen, looking cute and friendly right next to Lola.

"What should our adventure be about?" Daddy asked. Lola thought very hard. "It should be about a giant, green dragon!" she cheered.

Daddy hit the big button on the keyboard to start the magic. Words and colorful pictures filled the screen instantly. In just five minutes, they had made a whole new book called "Lola and the Dragon."

Lola climbed into her cozy bed holding the iPad. She looked at the amazing pictures of herself flying with the dragon. Daddy pressed a button, and the tablet began to read the story aloud to her.

Lola listened to the fun adventure as her eyes grew heavy. She slowly drifted off to sleep, dreaming of flying dragons. Daddy kissed her forehead and whispered, "Goodnight, Lola."

Lola loved the story so much that Daddy ordered a real printed book. When it arrived, the whole family sat on the couch to read it together. Lola couldn't wait for bedtime and a new Scribbin!
