By Chris Perkin

Lola held her small backpack tight as she stepped into the big, bright school. Her tummy felt a little twisty. Everything looked new and exciting, but also a little scary.

Inside the classroom, colorful pictures covered the walls. Lola saw other children playing and talking. She smiled shyly and waved at a boy with curly hair.

At recess, Lola walked to the playground. The slides and swings seemed huge! She climbed the steps slowly, her heart beating fast but happy.

A friendly girl with bright eyes asked Lola to join a game of tag. Lola laughed and ran after her new friend, feeling the wind in her hair.

Later, Lola found the forest play area. The trees whispered and the ground was soft. She and her friends explored, finding leaves and little bugs to show each other.

Lola’s fears began to melt away like morning mist. She knew she could be kind, funny, and brave, even in new places. The school was becoming a happy adventure.

When it was time to go home, Lola waved goodbye with a big smile. She couldn't wait to come back and see what new fun the next day would bring.

That night, Lola dreamed of swinging high in the sky. School had been a little scary, but mostly, it was the start of a wonderful year full of friends and adventures.
