Robbie's First Day

By Andrew Stokes

Today was Robbie's very first day at a brand new school. He stood in front of the mirror and smiled. He adjusted his favorite striped t-shirt and patted down his wavy blonde hair. His bright blue eyes sparkled with excitement, but his tummy felt a little wiggly.

Robbie held his mom's hand tightly as they walked up the big school steps. The building looked so tall, and Robbie felt extra short today. He saw lots of children running and laughing, but he did not know anyone yet.

Inside the classroom, there were colorful paintings on the walls and bins full of toys. Robbie found his cubby and hung up his backpack. He stood near the door, wishing he was back home in his cozy room.

"Hello, Robbie!" said his teacher, Miss Penny, with a warm smile. She showed him the block corner, which was Robbie's favorite place to play. Robbie took a deep breath and started building a tall, brave tower.

Suddenly, crash! Robbie's tall tower wobbled and fell to the floor. He felt his face grow warm, and he wanted to hide. Then, he heard a friendly chuckle next to him.

"Do you want to build a castle together?" asked a girl with curly brown hair. Her name was Mia, and she held out a big green block. Robbie smiled back, his blue eyes shining, and nodded his head.

Robbie and Mia built the biggest, strongest castle in the whole classroom. They made funny spaceship noises as they stacked the blocks high. Soon, Robbie forgot all about his wiggly tummy.

At the end of the day, Robbie ran to his mom with a giant smile. "I made a new friend, and we built a giant castle!" he cheered. Robbie knew that tomorrow would be another great adventure.
