Sheila peeked through the heavy red curtain. Her tummy felt like it was full of fluttery butterflies. She smoothed her fancy Shakespearean dress and touched her curly brown hair. She was almost too scared to move.

Suddenly, the bright stage lights turned on. Her teacher gave her a big thumbs up from the side. It was time for Sheila to go. She closed her eyes and took a giant, deep breath.

Sheila stepped out onto the wooden stage. She opened her mouth and spoke in a big, brave voice. She remembered every single word perfectly! Her smile danced as she smiled at the audience.

The crowd clapped and cheered very loudly. Sheila felt warm and happy inside. She held the sides of her costume and bent low. Sheila took a big, beautiful bow.
