The Snowman

By Elyssia Alasu

It was a cold winter day. Six-year-old Tim watched the big moving van fill up with his toys. "I do not want to move house," Tim sighed. "What if I do not make any new friends?"

"You will make new friends very soon," said his dad with a warm smile. When they arrived at their new house, snow covered the yard. Tim put on his coat and built a tall snowman.

That evening, Mum made a hot, delicious dinner for the family. Tim ate every last bite. Soon, he snuggled into his cozy bed in his new room and fell fast asleep.

The next morning, Tim ran outside to play. He rubbed his brown eyes in surprise! His snowman was alive and running around the yard. "Hello! I am Frosty," cheered the snowman. "Do you want to play?"

"Yes!" shouted Tim happily. Tim and Frosty giggled and played games in the fluffy snow. Soon it was time for school, so Tim brought Frosty along with him.

At school, the teacher said Frosty could not come inside the classroom. "What are we going to do?" asked Tim. "Stay right here," Tim told Frosty. Frosty promised to wait outside.

While Tim was inside studying, a naughty boy ran over to Frosty. He dragged Frosty behind the school building and tied him to a big bin! "Help!" shouted Frosty.

When school ended, Tim rushed outside to meet his friendly snowman. But Frosty was completely gone! Tim looked everywhere, but he could not find his friend anywhere.

Tim felt very sad and was about to give up. Just then, a girl and a boy walked over. "Hi! I am Sofi, and this is my brother Jake," said the girl with blond hair. "Do you need some help?"

Page 23

"Yes, please! My snowman Frosty is lost," said Tim. "We will help you find him!" said Jake kindly. The three children searched all around the schoolyard together.

At last, they found Frosty tied to the bin! "A boy hid me here," Frosty said softly. Tim, Sofi, and Jake quickly untied Frosty and gave him a big hug.

Tim smiled happily as they all walked home together. He had saved Frosty and made two wonderful new friends! Moving to a new house was not so scary after all.
