Tummy Troubles

By Jojo and Yoyo

Jojo and Yoyo gently wrapped a clean bandage around the little squirrel’s fluffy tail. "All better!" cheered Yoyo, handing the squirrel a shiny sticker. Just then, the clinic door creaked open, and a very big Mr. Bear shuffled inside. He was holding his tummy with both paws and making a sad, rumbly groaning sound.

As the squirrel scampered away, the twins turned their attention to their big, furry patient. "Oh dear, Mr. Bear, you look very uncomfortable," said Jojo, adjusting her doctor glasses. "My tummy is doing somersaults," Mr. Bear moaned. "Did you eat something strange today?" asked Yoyo, holding a clipboard ready to take notes.

"I only eat healthy forest food!" insisted Mr. Bear, but he wouldn't look the twins in the eye. Jojo raised a clever eyebrow, and Mr. Bear’s cheeks turned pink. "Well... maybe I had a tiny bit of candy," he whispered, looking at his feet. "Actually, I ate the whole jar!" he admitted with a sigh.

"Too much candy gives you a tummy ache," Jojo explained kindly. Yoyo peered closer at Mr. Bear’s fur and plucked out a sugary crumb. "Aha! Is this a donut crumb?" Yoyo asked with a grin. Mr. Bear covered his eyes with his paws. "Okay, okay! I ate five boxes of glazed donuts, too!"

"That is way too much junk food!" cried Jojo. Suddenly, Mr. Bear stuck his sticky thumb in his mouth to soothe himself, then wiped his other hand on his tummy and the floor. "Ew! No, no, Mr. Bear!" shouted Yoyo. "Germs are everywhere on the floor, and now they are on you!"

Mr. Bear ran to the sink and splashed water on his paws for just one second without using any soap. "All clean!" he said, dripping water everywhere. "That’s not right," laughed Jojo, steering him back to the sink. "You need warm water and bubbly soap to scrub the bad germs away!"

The twins showed Mr. Bear how to wash his hands properly while singing a happy washing song. Then, Jojo gave him a spoonful of pink medicine and a bowl of fresh fruit. "Next time, eat apples and berries instead of donuts," advised Yoyo. "Your tummy will thank you!"

Mr. Bear’s tummy finally stopped rumbling, and a big smile spread across his face. "I feel much better, and I promise to be healthier," he said, waving goodbye to his new friends. Jojo and Yoyo high-fived each other. Another patient was cured at the clinic!
